Hong Kong Invitational Cricket Festival 2002

The tournament, despite the weather, was a great success both on and off the field. The Independent Cricket Clubs Association of Hong Kong took the Champions trophy in a keenly fought contest against Merchants. The pilots of Kai Tak pipped the SubCont CC team by 2 runs to lift the Plate, with the Bowl trophy going to one of our overseas teams, Malviya CC of Delhi.

Some great nights out were had as well, with the dance floor at Mes Amis in Wanchai taking a pounding during the week. We were also very pleased to welcome the famous playwright and new MCC President Sir Tim Rice to our Awards Presentation evening at HKCC on the final night of the event.

All in all, with the support of our sponsors: Mes Amis bars, The Charterhouse Hotel and the much-swilled Corona beer, the assistance of the Hong Kong Cricket Club, Lamma Cricket Club, the Hong Kong Cricket Association and the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour the inaugural Hong Kong Invitational Cricket Festival 2002 was a great success and an excellent foundation for the future.
